BISD begins search for new superintendent

BEAUMONT - The Beaumont school district board of managers is starting their search for a new superintendent.

Wednesday's board meeting kicked off with a presentation full of tips on how to start the process.

Danny Lovett, from Region 5 Education Services Center, presented the board ideas on how to look for candidates.

He discussed search firms to help the board and how much it may cost.

Lovett suggested to look first within the district for candidates and then to expand out if no one was qualified.

He also said he called four search firms that costs between $16,500 and $20,000 for their services.

The board said they want to have candidate profiles up by tomorrow and will hopefully decide on a search firm by December 4.

During the meeting, the board also briefly discussed upcoming Request for Proposals (RFP) and said a RFP for a forensic audit will be released Thursday.
