Listen: Dramatic scanner audio of shooting at GOP charity baseball practice

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (ABC7) – Scanner audio captured the dramatic moments as a gunman opened fire on Republican congressional members playing on a baseball field in the Del Ray section of Alexandria. The politicians were practicing ahead of the annual congressional charity baseball game scheduled for this Thursday evening at Nationals Park.

Here is a timeline of the emergency police and medical response, minute-by-minute.

7:10 a.m. – Dispatcher: “For the weapons violation involving a gun. The 400 block of East Monroe Avenue… multiple calls.”

7:11 a.m. – Dispatcher: “Units arriving to 400 East Monroe… shots being fired and there are people running, possibly victims involved.”

7:12 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “Setup a perimeter!”

7:12 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “I’ve still got shots being fired.”

7:12 a.m. – Dispatcher: “We need all available units for the 400 block of East Monroe.”

7:13 a.m. – Medic 202: “A citizen just came into the fire station and said there were gunshots fired near the YMCA on Monroe.”

7:13 a.m. – Dispatcher: “Yes we have multiple calls coming in at this time.”

7:14 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “235 we’ve got one in custody… we need medics; we’ve got a suspect shot.”

7:15 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “Okay, 235, give me your exact location.”

7:15 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “Right by the baseball field near the YMCA. There’s also a victim down on the baseball field.”

7:16 a.m. – Dispatcher: “Attention all units responding to 400 East Monroe Avenue. Per battalion two, we need you to stage at firehouse 202.”

7:17 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “We have another one down. There will be a total of five down.”

7:19 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “Does anybody need a chopper?”

7:19 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “Yeah, we need a medivac!”

7:20 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “We need more crime scene tape to start taping off the whole field.”

7:20 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “Be aware, we’ve got some witnesses that are trying to leave. I’m trying to keep them on the scene.”

7:21 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “I need medics in the dugout, I’ve got one injured!”

7:21 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “Okay if they can land in the CVS lot, we’ll keep the CVS lot clear, across from the Aldi’s.”

7:22 a.m. – Emergency Responder: “Okay it’s a total of five. It looks like two reds and three yellows.”

7:23 a.m. – Dispatcher: “Please confirm the landing zone, we have park police on the line.”

7:23 a.m. – Patrol Officer: “The landing zone is going to be at the soccer field… make that the baseball field across from the YMCA, 400 East Monroe.”
