City to add Social Security Building to bus route

The city of Beaumont plans to add the Social Security Administration building on North Major Drive to its bus routes.

During a KFDM Waste Watch report we showed the hardship faced by those who rely on public transportation and need to get to the building.

The nearest bus route was about 2 miles away.

Since then the city has come up with a new route that will include stops at Social Security Administration building as well as the new HEB near Delaware and Dowlen and the Kroger near Folsom and Dowlen.

The change is expected to happen within 60 days.

Councilman Mike Getz says the change will not cost taxpayers any money because the city will elminate one of its Parkdall Mall routes to cover the expense.
