BREAKING NEWS: Motorcycle driver killed in Hardin County collision
HARDIN COUNTY —
BREAKING NEWS: The DPS is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident in Hardin County.
According to the DPS, at approximately 12:00pm, the Texas Department of Public Safety was notified of a two vehicle crash on US 96 at Trotty Horse Road in Hardin County. The crash occurred about three miles north of Silsbee.
The driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle, Mark Allen Decuir, 51, of Louisiana, was traveling northbound on US-96. The driver of a Cadillac SUV, Jose Mendez-Ramos, 29, of El Salvador, was traveling southbound on US-96. The driver of the Cadillac slowed down to make a left turn into the crossover. After entering the crossover, the driver of the Cadillac failed to yield the right of way and struck the motorcycle. Decuir died at the scene. Ramos wasn't hurt.
Ramos was booked into the Hardin County Jail on a felony charge of Criminally Negligent Homicide. It's a State Jail Felony. If convicted, he could face up to two years in a state jail and a fine of up to $10,000
