Police: Man stabbed his girlfriend as she tried to leave their Beaumont apartment

UPDATE: Police say a man stabbed his girlfriend who was trying to leave him and assaulted her sister who tried to stop the attack.

Dameion Jakeith Hall, 36, was arrested Monday night at a convenience store near the south Beaumont crime scene. Hall will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a family member, according to BPD.

Officers responded to the Hacienda Apartments on Georgia around 7:36 p.m. They learned a woman was packing her clothes and trying to leave Hall, when they say he became upset and stabbed her several times with a knife.

The woman managed to escape the apartment and a neighbor called police. She was taken to a hospital for surgery and is expected to survive the injuries.

There were also three adults, two teenagers and several small children at the apartment during the assaults, according to police.

PREVIOUS: Beaumont police are investigating a stabbing that left the victim with critical injuries.

Police responded to the stabbing at about 8 p.m. Monday at 1096 Georgia Avenue, the Hacienda Apartments not far from Lamar University.

An ambulance transported the stabbing victim as an emergency patient to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth. We're checking on their condition.

Police wrapped the area in yellow tape while crime scene investigators gathered evidence.
