Beaumont robbery victim shot, returns fire; injuries not life-threatening

A robbery victim was shot Monday morning before returning fire at the assailant, the Beaumont Police Department announced in a news release.

The victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries and it was not immediately clear whether the robber was injured, the news release states.

This happened at about 12:19 a.m. in the 200 block of Rosine Street. Beaumont PD received a call in reference to a shooting victim.

A preliminary investigation revealed two people were in front of a residence when they were approached by a gunman who attempted a robbery.

The investigation is ongoing.
