Grandmother hit by vehicle on Highway 12 in Vidor while leaving Texas Maze of Terror

ADDITIONAL INFO: Vidor police say a driver who hit a grandmother on Highway 12 as she crossed the highway didn't stop. Southeast Texas Crimestoppers now offering a $1,000 reward for information as police search for the driver. Police say the grandmother was leaving the Texas Maze of Terror as she crossed the highway with her grandchildren.

UPDATE: Wanda Spoonemore, 71, was struck and killed by a driver yesterday in the 1700 block of Hwy 12 in Vidor after leaving a Halloween event with her grandchildren.

The Vidor Police Department is asking the community’s assistance in locating the driver and vehicle involved. The preliminary description is a medium sized SUV or Cross-over vehicle that maybe light colored possibly silver or white.

The vehicle should have damage to the front right side of the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vidor Police Department at 409-769-4561 or Crime Stoppers at 833-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible parties.

EARLIER: Police say a grandmother was hit tonight along Highway 12 near the I-10 ramp in Vidor while crossing the highway as she and her grandchildren were leaving the Texas Maze of Terror, according to Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll.

Police say the driver didn't stop after hitting the woman. Paramedics transported the her to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth.

Police are looking for a silver SUV with damage to the right side of the vehicle.
