Watch: Bridge City teen sings Anthem at Saturday's Astros game, draws rave reviews
SOUTHEAST TEXAS —
Minute Maid Park will become the 'Field of Dreams' for a Bridge City teenager when she sings the National Anthem before tonight's Houston Astros game at Minute Maid Park.
Daelyn Perry is a 13-year-old Bridge City Middle School student.
"She loves to sing," Temple Perry, Daelyn's mom, told KFDM/Fox 4. "A teacher asked if she could submit a video link to the Astros. We submitted it last Saturday. They reviewed it Monday. Tuesday we received notice they'd picked her to sing the Anthem at tonight's game."
Her mom says Daelyn has memorized the Anthem and isn't nervous about performing in front of her largest audience yet.
"She, and we, are overwhelmed with excitement," said Daelyn's mom. "She doesn't have any stress. It'll be maybe her eighth time to sing it at other sporting events."
Daelyn's family, including her dad, Dr. Russell Perry and three brothers, will attend the game and cheer her on.
