Catholic organization donates nearly $700,000 to Diocese of Beaumont for Harvey recovery
The Catholic Diocese of Beaumont received some big help Tuesday from a non-profit organization.
Chicago-based fundraising organization Catholic Extension donated $668,000 to the diocese.
It's going to be used to renovate churches in Port Arthur and Fannett, and the Holy Family Retreat Center in Beaumont from Tropical Storm Harvey damage.
A priest from Chicago presented Bishop Curtis Guillory with a check Tuesday afternoon.
Dozens came to the event to thank catholic extension for the donation.
It was at St. Josephs Catholic Church where some of the building is renovated, but the church still needs rebuilding from Harvey.
