Central - Ozen merger slowly coming into focus
Students Ozen and Central High Schools met Friday to discuss the new name, color and mascot.
District administrators hope to build another wing onto Ozen, but it's not part of their current merger plan. This means students will be in temporary classrooms for the foreseeable future.
There is no plan to keep anyone at Austin Innovation Academy or the new part of Central where students are now.
A district official says due to realignment, there's a possibility West Brook will need to take in more students.
The district does plan on maintaining the magnet programs from both schools.
Another major concern for some students and parents is class rank. For the 2019 school year, the district is considering naming two valedictorians and salutatorians, one from each school.
