By Steve W Stewart/KJAS - Defending PBR World Champion bullrider Cooper Davis and the PBR Ford Built Tough Series are getting closer to an appearance here in the Lone Star State. Davis will be within driving distance of his hometown of Jasper when the PBR comes to Austin next month. Meanwhile, Davis is currently ranked 10th in the standings.
The Frontier Communications/Wrangler's Long Live Cowboys Classic will be held in the Frank Erwin Center on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin. The event will be Saturday, September 16th at 6:45 p.m. and Sunday, September 17th at 1:45 p.m.
You can also catch Coop and the PBR in Thackerville, Oklahoma, which is about the same distance from Jasper as Austin is. That event will be the WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational, to be held on Saturday, September 2nd at 6:45 p.m. and on Sunday, September 3rd at 4:45 p.m. Thackerville is located on I-35 north of Dallas, just inside the Oklahoma state line.
This year the PBR World Finals returns to Las Vegas, November 1st-5th, and Davis hopes to be there.
Currently Davis is ranked #10 in the world, and 1431.67 points behind the world leader, Eduardo Aparecido of Brazil. Coop has 24 rides out of 59 attempts, and he’s earned a total of $106,534.25. However, keep in mind that Davis can put up points quickly, especially near the end of the regular season.
