Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that at about 2:00 this afternoon, a DPS trooper radioed Chambers County Dispatch that two suspects were handcuffed and placed under arrest for a large quantity of narcotics. While the DPS trooper was investigating, the two suspects were able to get away in his cruiser, leading to a pursuit. It appears the suspects lost control of the vehicle at I-10 and FM 1410, abandoning the vehicle and running away. Police quickly caught one suspect and arrested the second hours later following a manhunt involving Sheriff's deputies, State troopers and TDCJ bloodhounds, as well as helicopter air support from DPS and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Sunday, a man was arrested after taking a DPS Tahoe and leading officers on a chase that ended when he wrecked in Lake Charles.
