Houston man's body found near Louisiana border, homicide investigation underway
LAKE CHARLES —
The body of a 22-year-old Houston man was found in the woods in Starks, Louisiana near the state border.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's officials identified the man as Dustin R. Hammons, who was found near Highway 12 and Creek Road.
An investigation revealed Hammons received trauma to his body, according to the sheriff's office, so his death is ruled a homicide.
The cause and manner of death are pending the coroner's investigation.
Sheriff's detectives are asking anyone with information about Hammons' death, or possibly witnessed suspicious activity in that area between Tuesday, Aug. 1 and Wednesday, Aug.2, to contact the sheriff's office at (337) 491-3605 or Crime Stoppers at (337) 439-2222.
