Icy roads, freezing temperatures slow down semi drivers
While many drivers planned smart and stayed home during this winter storm, for semi drivers, that isn't always an option.
Many still have routes to complete to get paid, but if the road conditions don't allow safe travel, many say losing money is worth being safe.
Fernando Palascios says he was expecting to be back in Laredo, Texas by about noon Wednesday, but after seeing Tuesday night's road conditions, he stayed in Louisiana overnight.
"Well it costs me a lot, cause I'm leasing this truck. So, I lost about a day or so, but I'd rather be safe than make a bit more money."
Many semi drivers say overpasses and bridges pose too big of a risk and staying somewhere safe overnight is the safest option.
