KJAS: Jasper Fire Chief Primrose steps down
Fire Chief Jimmy Primrose has stepped down, KJAS Radio News has learned.
Upon contact on Tuesday, Primrose confirmed that was no longer chief. However, he said that he would continue to serve as a volunteer in the fire department alongside the other firefighters.
Brandon Duckworth is assistant chief and it is assumed that he will now serve as acting chief, pending the annual election of officers that generally takes place in late December or early January.
Primrose would not comment on the reasons for his stepping down as chief or say if it had anything to do with the maintenance of fire hydrants.
In reporting about apparent failure to maintain fire hydrants, KJAS would like to remind our readers and listeners that the volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department are in no way responsible for the maintenance of the fire hydrants or fire fighting equipment.
That work is supposed to be carried out by city employees.
