Jasper PD officer indicted on charge of sexual assault of a child
SABINE COUNTY/JASPER —
From Jasper Police Department: On 8/23/2017 the Texas Rangers contacted Chief Gerald Hall at the Jasper Police Department to advise him that officer Lacie Jackson was under investigation for an alleged incident that occurred in February 2016, before Jackson began her employment with the Jasper Police Department. The alleged victim reported the alleged incident after the Police Department conducted its background investigation on Jackson, and the alleged incident therefore could not have been discovered during the background investigation. Upon notice of the Texas Rangers’ investigation, the Police Department immediately placed Officer Jackson on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
On 9/28/17 the Police Department was notified that Jackson had been indicted in Sabine County for Sexual Assault of a Child. According to the city charter council must approve employee terminations within the Police Department; therefore Chief Hall will recommend that Jackson’s employment with the City of Jasper will be terminated due to her indictment being a violation of the Jasper Police Department’s Rules of Conduct.
The Police Department does not have any knowledge of the alleged incident or the investigation conducted by the Texas Rangers. Any questions relating to the alleged incident, the investigation, or the indictment should be directed to the Texas Rangers or the Sabine County District Attorney’s Office.
