Kelsey Borza reports live from the scene of a fatal accident on I-10 in Vidor. At approximately 5:00 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a one vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash occurred near exit 860.
According to the DPS, preliminary reports indicate the driver of a Pontiac passenger vehicle was traveling westbound in the outside traffic lane of Interstate 10. For an unknown reason, the driver struck the outside guardrail causing the vehicle to go airborne. The vehicle continued down the roadway and struck a second guardrail before coming to rest.
The driver, a 37-year-old Nederland man, died at the scene.
The passenger, a 42-year-old Beaumont woman, was transported by ambulance to CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth with serious injuries.
The outside traffic lane of Interstate 10 had been closed due to the crash. Motorists were urged to use caution and expect delays.
This crash remains under investigation and additional information will be released as information is confirmed.
