KFDM/Sinclair EXCLUSIVE with President Trump discussing health care
The battle over what to do with Obamacare continues in Washington. Neither party seems to agree with how to move forward.
But, what does President Donald Trump have to say about the the health care proposal.?
The president exclusively sat down with a reporter from our sister station in Michigan to explain his role as an "arbitrator" in his quest to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Nick Minock, political reporter with WWMT: Looking at health care, what role did you play in the congressional Republicans' proposal?
President Trump: In a way I'm an arbitrator. I want to see it happen, but it has to be great for the people. I want to make it really good I want to make it really strong, but it's tough because we're not going to get any Democrat votes. If we gave the best plan in the world, in the history of the world, the Democrats won't vote because they don't want the Republicans to get credit, which is a very serious thing. They're selfish.
Nick Minock: What does the GOP plan do that Obamacare doesn't do?
President Trump: When we get Phase 3 approved, we're going to go for drug prices, we're going to reduce drug prices. We're going to have a bidding system that's going to be fantastic, it's going to come in Phase 3 and If we can't get Phase 3 approved, I'm going to have a bill because it's so important to me, drug prices. Prices for health care will go down. We're going to have tremendous competition. We're going to have a much, much better plan in terms of health care for every single circumstance where Obamacare doesn't. Obamacare won't even be around in a year. If we didn't do anything, within a year or two, it would have imploded. It's already imploded. If you look at Arizona, this year it's going to be 116 percent, next year it's going to be worse. This area is through the roof and next year it's only going to get worse. When you compare things, Obamacare is just fiction because Obamacare is not going to be around.
There's still more to come:
