Lake Charles man charged with manslaughter
LAKE CHARLES —
A 36-year-old Lake Charles man is charged with manslaughter after police say he assaulted a man who died from head injuries several days later.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies say Lucas J. Vincent, 36, hit Danny Lejeune, 53, in the head while Lejeune worked on his truck outside of his home on April 24.
Lejeune told deputies that Vincent, an acquaintance of his, unexpectedly struck him with an unknown object and fled, according to a news release sent Monday by the sheriff's office.
Lejeune was taken to a hospital and admitted into the intensive care unit. Later the same day deputies located Vincent at a local casino and after further investigation he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with aggravated second degree battery.
Detectives learned on May 4 that Lejeune died from his injuries.
The following day detectives upgraded Vincent’s charges from aggravated second degree battery to manslaughter. Judge Robert Wyatt signed the warrant in the amount of $250,000.
