LU students plan local "March for Our Lives"
Lamar University students are encouraging the community to support them Saturday at a "March for Our Lives" event.
The group is one of many across the country planning a March for Our Lives protest on March 24.
According to the event's website, the protesters hope to "demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools today."

"They should be worried about passing tests and being prepared for the next level rather than 'Oh is someone gonna come shoot us up?' says Davon Chargois, a senior studying Social Work at Lamar University.
Chargois and his fellow students worked together to plan the local event which is taking place at Beaumont City Hall Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
The event was first scheduled to take place at Lamar University, but the location changed due to an expected crowd.
