New Orange mayor takes office, makes history; challenger still fighting
The City of Orange has a new mayor who is making history. It also has a former opponent of his who refuses to go down without a fight.
Larry Spears Jr. took the oath of office Tuesday before a crowd of family and supporters at Orange City Hall.
Bishop Charles Thomas, his former challenger, was also there to watch and continue his challenge.
Thomas claims the law required Spears to resign from his council seat before running for mayor.
Spears says that's not true and he looks forward to serving the citizens.
