Painting to help abused and neglected Southeast Texas children

Painting on a canvas turned into a means for helping abused and neglected Southeast Texas children.

A fundraiser for CASA took place at Painting With A Twist in Beaumont.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Half of the painters' registration fees went to CASA, a local non-profit organization that helps abused and neglected children in the legal system.

A CASA coordinator expressed appreciation for the community's help.

"The community is coming on board with us today and painting a masterpiece here today to show that they care about the kids in our community and that we are against child abuse and that at CASA we do what we can to make sure that children are cared for when they're not in their home and we work towards getting them back to a safe permanent home," said Christy Heisner, a CASA resource development coordinator.

CASA of Southeast Texas helps more than 300 local children each year, according to the organization.
