Wait for FEMA inspections before rebuilding in Port Arthur, officials say
PORT ARTHUR —
Property owners in Port Arthur should wait to make sure they are in compliance with FEMA guidelines before repairing or rebuilding, city and federal officials told KFDM/Fox 4 on Friday.
All damaged homes and businesses located within the city's hazardous floodplain must be inspected according to FEMA guidelines; and property owners outside of the floodplain who previously filed flood damage claims with the National Flood Insurance Program must also be in compliance with federal guidelines.
This would determine whether structures received substantial damage according to FEMA.
