Port Arthur man indicted for intoxication manslaughter in fatal crash on Highway 69
PORT ARTHUR —
A 31-year-old Port Arthur man was indicted Wednesday for intoxication manslaughter for a head-on collision last year that killed Kelvin Wayne Valcin.
Travis Edward Chisholm, 31, of Port Arthur, is charged with a second degree felony in Valcin's death, according to Wednesday's indictment.
On March 13, 2016, Chisholm drove a 2005 Chrysler 300 in the wrong direction near the 5600 block of Highway 69, according to an April 25 probable cause affidavit authored by a Port Arthur PD detective.
Valcin was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am when it was struck head-on by Chisholm's Chrysler.
Chisholm provided the Port Arthur PD a blood specimen and had an alcohol concentration at or above the legal limit, according to the affidavit.
He was not immediately arrested due to his own injuries sustained in the crash, the affidavit states.
A second degree felony carries a punishment range of 2 to 20 years in state prison.
