Beaumont men arrested in Hardin County robbery implicated in more crimes around the area
JEFFERSON COUNTY —
Two men arrested after sheriff's officials say they led deputies on a chase from Hardin to Jefferson counties Wednesday are being implicated in other robberies in the area.
Shavonskie Ardoin, 23, and Douglas John Martin, 21, both of Beaumont, are each being held on a $750,000 bond for the robberies at the Express Mart at Highway 105 at Reins, which occurred last week around the same time a 19-year-old pregnant woman was gunned down.
Sheriff's officials say Ardoin and Martin are responsible for robbing the Batson Grocery on Wednesday morning as well as other robberies in the area.
They led deputies on a chase from Batson to Clinton Road in Jefferson County, just outside of Beaumont, according to sheriff's officials.
Ashalae Daeshawn Roberts, a 17-year-old from Beaumont, was arrested from the scene Wednesday is at the Hardin County jail under a $250,000 bond for aggravated robbery.
Deputies received a tip later in the afternoon that led to the arrests of Ardoin and Martin, who they questioned and learned of their involvement in the Express Mart robbery from last Tuesday.
Here is the information from the Jefferson County Sheriff's office late Wednesday:
Earlier (Wednesday morning) the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies were in pursuit of two Armed Robbery suspects that had just robbed and shot up a convenience store in Batson Texas, and were headed into Jefferson County.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies joined the pursuit, which ended on Clinton Road in Cheek Texas, just outside of Beaumont.
A perimeter was setup and Beaumont Police K9 was called out to assist in the search along with the Sheriff’s Helicopter and additional Deputies from the Patrol Division, Warrant Division and Criminal Investigation Division.
A17 year old female was found in the vehicle that fled from deputies and she was arrested and taken back to Hardin County for questioning.
After a number of hours, the search was called off, but deputies remained in the area on the lookout for the suspects.
Sheriff’s Deputies received a tip later this afternoon that lead to the arrest of the other two suspects, who were taken into custody without incident.
The suspects were then taken to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning. After talking with the suspect, it was discovered the two suspects were also responsible for the Armed Robbery of the Express Mart at Reins and Hwy 105 in Jefferson County as well as other robberies in the area.
The two suspects were taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility where they were booked in on Aggravated Robbery and Evading Detention with additional charges pending from Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and Beaumont Police Department.
The names of the two suspects have not yet been released pending arraignment.
Thanks to the diligent effort of all those involved the suspects were able to be caught and brought to justice.
