Teen in critical condition after Vidor auto-ped
Vidor Police say a teen is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle last night.
Around 9:40 p.m. Friday, Vidor Police got a call about an auto-pedestrian accident on the Eastbound service road of I-10 at Courtland Street.
When officers got there they found a 17-year-old male in the roadway.
Officers gave the victim first aid. The victim was then transported to the trauma unit at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
Officers say the teen has a closed head injury, a broken femur, dislocated knee, broken jaw, and lacerations.
Investigators say the injuries do not appear to have been life-threatening, but the teen will have a long road to recovery.
No arrest was made. Officers say the teen failed to yield the right-of-way to the driver.
Officers tell us today is the teen's 18th birthday.
