Testimony begins in Port Arthur intoxication manslaughter trial
The first day of testimony in a Port Arthur intoxication manslaughter case dating back to July of 2015 began Tuesday at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
Vanessa Davis is charged with killing Pamela Fields on July 5, 2015.
Investigators say Davis, Fields and two other women were together the morning of the crash. Cocaine was found in Fields system during her autopsy, and cocaine was found in a blood sample from Davis.
Afterwards, police say Davis got behind the wheel of the car and while driving down Gulfway Drive, was driving erratically.
Shortly after, investigators say Davis crashed, throwing Fields from the car, killing her.
Jurors will hear from several witnesses throughout the trial, including one of the other women inside the car during the crash, police officers who responded and medical experts.
