Motiva contract worker dies seven months after injury
Family members say they are mourning the death of a Motive contract worker.
According to family members, a contract worker who was hurt on the job at Motiva in Port Arthur in August of last year died from his injuries Friday.
Relatives identify the man as Ronald Ceasar.
Motiva did not reveal what led to the August 3, 2017 injury, but said that it was launching an investigation at the time.
ORIGINAL STORY — A contract worker was hurt Thursday at the Motiva Refinery in Port Arthur, according to a statement from the company.
The company says the worker is receiving medical care. An investigation into the incident is underway.
Motiva isn't revealing where the worker was injured at the refinery, how it happened or the extent of the injury.
“The safety of our people and the community is at the core of our operations,” said Greg Lucchesi, General Manager of the Port Arthur Refinery. “The Motiva family is saddened by this event and we will never accept that injuries are a part of normal operations.”
