Vidor police investigating shooting death of 65-year-old man
The Vidor Police Department is investigating the shooting death of 65-year-old Cleveland Dale Rogers.
Rogers died Saturday, Sept. 30 at his home on N. Main Street in Vidor.
Police originally believed it was a natural death, but it was later discovered at the morgue that Rogers had suffered from a gunshot wound.
An autopsy report obtained by KFDM/Fox 4 states Rogers was shot in the left chest area near the axilla, in a left to right and downward direction.
The preliminary cause of death is a penetrating gunshot wound of the chest, the autopsy states. The manner of death is pending. Rogers has since been cremated.
Rogers had been married to longtime attorney Karla Rogers for 46 years, according to his obituary. The couple had two sons and four grandchildren.
Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll confirmed Wednesday the department is investigating the death.
