BEAUMONT - By Justin Hinton, KFDM News
A Beaumont man found an abandoned dog at a local church Sunday. Accompanying the dog was a sign that read the following:
“The outcome on November 6th was a sign that better times will not be coming any time soon. I hope one of you can give him a good home. He is a kind, loving pet that needs a stable family. (He is neutered and current on all shots.)”
Cummings saw the dog and began calling out to him. It wasn’t until he approached the dog that he realized he was tied to a fence. That’s when he read the sign.
“They didn't want to do this,” Glenn Cummings said. “They were just hoping for the best for the dog, and I think that's the way most people are.”
Cummings took the dog back home to join his other three dogs, all dogs that he and his wife adopted.
Since Cummings found the dog on Veterans day, he decided to name the dog Brinkley after an Eagle Scout and naval aviator in World War II from Texas, Lt. Commander Harry Brinkley Bass.
The Cummings aren’t sure if they’ll keep Brinkley, but for now, he is part of the family.
“If we don't keep him, we'll find him a good home. We won't give him to just anybody. There's people that I wouldn't give a bad dog too,” Cummings said.
