BEAUMONT - By Megan Dillard - When you donate a gift to a toy drive or to your church during the holidays, you never know whose hands it might receive it.
Thursday night we took a look at Beaumont School District Superintendent Dr. Timothy Chargois as he explained how KFDM's Toy Feast gave him hope as a child.
This is video from KFDM's Toy Feast last December.
It's an annual toy drive sponsored by KFDM and the Salvation Army.
The donations help hundreds of kids in Southeast Texas get gifts for Christmas.
Kids like Dr. Chargois.
He explained, each year, he and his family would walk down to the Salvation Army to get Christmas presents that people donated during Toy Feast.
Dr. Chargois explains it was about more than getting a gift.
From a boy with humble beginnings to the BISD superintendent: Dr. Chargois says it's been quite a journey.
"To have been on the receiving end and now to be on the giving end, it's definitely a wonderful experience. What I find is, I'm the same little boy who had hope in the future. Today now, my hope of course, is in the children I represent today in Beaumont ISD and all across Southeast Texas. Hope is what Toy Feast should be about."
Dr. Chargois will be at the station Friday for Toy Feast.
Our morning shows will be broadcast from the front parking lot.
Come by the station or visit the KFDM Facebook page for more information.
