Officials said the female dog was discovered on an oilfield road near the intersection of Jefferson Chemical Road and FM 3083 in Conroe. She was found by an oilfield worker who had entered the property when he saw a white trash bag moving. When he opened, he found the dog covered in blood but blinking her eyes.
The young dog appeared to be a Shepherd mix. Officials said she was younger than four months old.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The dog was then transported to the Animal Emergency Clinic of Conroe.
According to a veterinarian at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Conroe on Saturday, she had lost a lot of blood. The single bullet passed through her neck.
The dog died around noon on Sunday, according to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Officials originally said she had about a 50 percent chance of survival.
Last month, another dog was found with gunshot wounds to the face. He survived.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-392- STOP (7867).
