Students and faculty at Hardin Jefferson High School are getting into the Thanksgiving spirit by covering the halls with paper turkey feathers. It's all part of an effort by the FCCLA to help raise money to pay for 5-year-old Connor Stanton's medical bills.
Hannah Love, a junior in the FCCLA program at Hardin Jefferson High school says, "Every teacher starts off with what we call a naked turkey and throughout the fundraiser students and teachers can buy paper feathers for 10 cents."
The fundraiser has been ongoing for about a week and a half.
"It's just incredible just to look down the hallways and see it everyday." Kaitlin McFarland, a sophomore says.
The group has sold about 20,000 feathers raising nearly $2,000 for the Stantons.
Brian Stanton, Connor's dad says he never expected to see such support.
"We didn't know to the extent of what it's been. It's amazing at $.10 a feather just looking at it, it's more than you could ever think." Stanton said.
If you would like to donate money to the Stanton family call Hardin Jefferson High School at 409-981-6430. DuPoint Goodrich is accepting donations for Brian Connor Staton Benefit, the account number is 701651509.
Randy Graffagnino of the Provost Umphrey Law Firm, and his wife Rhonda, are donating $500 to the family of Connor Stanton.
