Shilo Herrington says God gave her a vision: a lunch sack with a
red heart on it.
She says she knew it meant that she was suppose to help feed the hungry, so she started providing sandwiches to those who needed a meal.
And, the ministry began to grow.
Now, she hands out blankets, clothes, water and other items to the needy.
The ministry runs on donations, and she says God never fails to provide.
"Lunch meat and bread started showing up at my front door," she said.
But it's more than just feeding and clothing the needy, Herrington says it's about God's grace.
"We don't preach at someone, we don't condemn them, we don't tell them about their sin. We're just loving."
Herrington's love for her community caught the attention of KFDM and Pay it Forward sponsor Cowboy Chevrolet.
Charlie Ozen with Cowboy Chevrolet presented Herrington with a $500 check on Thursday to honor her and her outreach work.
Herrington said she will use the money to provide socks, underwear, mosquito spray to those who need it.
