ORANGE - A man the police in Orange call a person of interest in a woman's disappearance has been arrested in Tennessee.
Investigators in Orange tell KFDM News they passed along information to authorities in Tennessee that Joshua Latham, 26, of Orange, has relatives in Maryville, Tennessee and he might be in the state. Detectives contacted law enforcement there to check a residence and Thursday night they found Latham, along with his girlfriend and their two week old son.
A detective from Orange and a Texas Ranger are en route to Tennessee to interview Latham about Tami Higginbotham.
Family members reported Higginbotham, 41, of Vinton, missing last Saturday. They say Higginbotham traveled from Vinton to Orange to meet Latham about buying a cell phone.
Police call Latham a person of interest in her disappearance. They questioned Latham and his girlfriend Monday.
Family members of the girlfriend say the woman called them explaining the police had questioned them.
They say, since that night, their phone calls have gone unanswered.
“It’s scary not knowing what happened to Tami, but I’m concerned for Dusty and the baby,” Frankie Bass, the woman’s mother, told KFDM reporter Justin Hinton Thursday. “I mean, I love Joshua with all of my heart. I just wish they would come home, and if they know something they need to tell it.”
Higginbotham’s family is worried something bad has happened to their daughter.
“In our hearts, we hope. We hope we have a little glimpse of hope, but we don’t think that she’s alive anymore,” Bill Mauldin, Tami Higginbotham’s dad said.
For now, another couple is sharing in their grief.
Tina Glisson and Randy Faulkner reported their daughter missing in December.
She was last seen in the same gas station as Higginbotham. Several days later, she was found dead.
