Police said a 13 year old daughter allowed a 16 year old boy inside her home at about 4 am, Saturday.
The parents told Police they heard someone in the home and did not know who it was.
Police said the homeowner fired several gunshots at the the person inside the home.
The homeowner called 911 to report the shooting. EMS transported the 16 to Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth. The 16 year old is recovering.
ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE- At about 5:17 this morning Patrol Officers responded to a reported burglar alarm at a house in the 6900 block of Vermejo Circle. While officers were en route to that location, our 911 Operations Center received a call from the homeowner who stated he had just shot a man who he found in his house.
Officers arrived and found a 16-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. They called for EMS who arrived and paramedics treated the juvenile at the scene then transported him to St. Elizabeth E.R.
Doctors were performing surgery on the juvenile at the time of this release.
At this early stage of the investigation, Detectives are still trying to determine the facts surrounding this incident. They are taking statements from the residents of the house. Our crime scene unit is collecting and processing evidence from the house.
