Watch KFDM News and stay with kfdm.com for updates on the fire investigation.
The most recent fire was set at about 8 p.m. Sunday at 1012 Trinity Avenue. The fire was in the same Lakeview area of Port Arthur that has now had 7 abandoned building fires in the last week and half. The first three fires occurred the night of May 30 and 3 more fires occurred during the night of May 31, 2012. Investigators believe all of the fires were intentionally set.
Investigators with the Port Arthur Fire Department, with assistance from the Port Arthur Police Department, are investigating who may be responsible for setting these fires.
If anyone has information about who is setting these vacant buildings on fire, call the Port Arthur Fire Marshal's Office at 409-983-8737.
If residents of this area see persons entering abandoned buildings you may call the Port Arthur Police Department at 409-983-8600 or in an emergency situation; dial 911.
PAFD says the residents who live in the area are the best source of information for investigators. The residents know better than anyone who belongs in their neighborhood. Investigators are asking for help from the residents to stop the rash of fires before any injuries occur and to prevent any further damage to neighboring properties.
If anyone has information but would like to remain anonymous you may call the ATAC on Arson hotline at: 1-877-4 FIRE 45 (1-877-434-7345). You could be eligible for a cash reward. Or click here for the State Fire Marshal's Office
