CONROE, Texas (AP) - A multi-agency task force has removed more than 30,000 marijuana plants growing along a creek bank in the remote woods of Southeast Texas and is in the process of destroying them.
Polk County Sheriff Kenneth Hammack said Friday that there were so many plants it took about 100 people from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies six hours to pull them by hand.
The Conroe Courier reports the illegal cannabis ranged in size from 4 to 9 feet.
The sheriff says it filled four trailers and a dump truck and if it hadn't been for the cooperative effort "we would still be out there." The plants are to be burned in a landfill and buried Friday.
No arrests were made but the investigation is ongoing.
