JEFFERSON COUNTY- by Ashley Gaston
While Isaac is spinning its way toward Louisiana, the track was a bit uncertain during the weekend.
Some computer models predicted isaac might approach Southeast Texas.
That set in motion emergency management coordinators in this area.
Jefferson County Emergency Management Coordinator Greg Fountain has spent the majority of his day inside the Courthouse on the phone and watching the path of Tropical Storm Isaac.
Fountain said even if the path doesn't shift, Isaac will have an indirect impact on Southeast Texas in the form of more vehicles leaving the storm zone and passing through this area.
Fountain took part in two conference calls today with The National Weather Service.
The Emergency Management Coordinators for Hardin and Orange counties were also in on the calls.
Once they finished, representatives from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama got on the line and learned more about how isaac could impact their communities.
Isaac dumped several inches of rain on the Florida Keys and the Florida coastline before moving into the Gulf of Mexico.
It knocked out power to thousands of homes and businesses in Florida.
Now.. people in Louisiana are preparing for the possibility of a direct hit.
Fountain said drivers here may notice the indirect impact on Southeast Texas. He expects more cars and trucks on I-10, heading west through Southeast Texas and away from the storm.
