SOUTHEAST TEXAS - The average price for one gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is unchanged this week in Beaumont and up a penny in Texas, according to AAA Texas.
The Beaumont average is $3.64. It was $3.46 at this time a year ago. The record high is $4 a gallon in July 2008.
Drivers in the state of Texas are now paying $3.67 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, which is up a penny from last week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. Motorists in Texarkana are paying the most on average at $3.72, and drivers in El Paso are paying the least at $3.55. Drivers in the Lone Star State are paying about 20 cents less than the national average of $3.87.
IRVING - From AAA Texas - Drivers in the state of Texas are now paying $3.67 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, which is up a penny from last week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. Motorists in Texarkana are paying the most on average at $3.72, and drivers in El Paso are paying the least at $3.55. Drivers in the Lone Star State are paying about 20 cents less than the national average of $3.87.
Despite the slight increase this week, AAA expects national and statewide averages to decline in the coming months as demand drops off following the busy summer driving period, as refineries switch from summer-blend to less expensive winter-blend gasoline and as the hurricane season draws to a close.
"We ask Texans to continue to maximize their vehicle's fuel efficiency by maintaining it according to manufacturer recommendations," said AAA Texas/New Mexico Representative Doug Shupe. "We also encourage drivers to shop around for less expensive gasoline. We don't recommend driving too far just to save a few pennies, but look for the gas stations with lower prices along your route--even if that means going somewhere other than your regular station."
Right now Texans are paying an average of 51 dollars to fill up a typical vehicle's 14-gallon size fuel tank. That's about three dollars less than what drivers are paying nationwide to fill up.
To help consumers identify quality auto repair shops that can assist in the maintenance and repair of their vehicles, AAA offers the Approved Auto Repair program as a free public service. AAA-approved repair facilities meet and maintain high professional standards for training, equipment, cleanliness and customer service. Motorists can look for the Approved Auto Repair sign at local auto repair facilities, or search for a nearby AAA-approved shop online at AAA.com/Repair.
