WACO, Texas (AP) - Police say a sleeping baby boy has been shot in the head and a man wounded during drive-by gunfire in a Central Texas neighborhood.
Waco police say nobody has been arrested over the shootings early Wednesday that left several bullet holes in a house. Police are trying to determine what prompted the gunfire.
Police say 7-month-old Dmar Caufield is hospitalized in critical condition and facing surgery. The baby was taken to a Waco hospital then flown to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Investigators say 38-year-old Craig Mays suffered shrapnel wounds to his arm. Mays was treated and released in Waco.
Police say the baby's parents and two other children in the home were not hurt.
Authorities did not immediately say why Mays was staying with the family.
