BEAUMONT - By Megan Dillard - Tonight's presidential debate is top of mind for many Americans as both candidates went head to head exactly three weeks before Election Day.
President Barack Obama and Governer Mitt Romney discussed issues such as energy resources, the economy, and immigration.
KFDM went to World Gym in Beaumont where a wall of televisions aired tonight's face off.
The debate wasn't on every TV but you certainly couldn't miss it if you were working out at World Gym tonight.
Several people were glad to share their thoughts on the upcoming election and this evening's debate.
Lakendra Mitchell scheduled her workout a little earlier than normal so she wouldn't miss any of tonight's discussions.
She said she was looking forward to both parties talking about things she feels were unanswered during the first debate.
She also believed tonight gave President Obama a chance to redeem himself.
"I think he is going to come back more aggressive. I'm not going to say he wasn't prepared, but even with what he said, he's going to be more prepared. He's going to come back more on fire for this one."
Tonight's debate was conducted in a town hall format which allows audience members to ask questions directly to the candidates.
Kevin McDonald says this is a good way for candidates to interact with citizens.
"I think it's an effective way because it gives the audience a chance to voice their opinions on stuff dealing with the election. It's not just a commentator asking all the questions. Give the people a voice to voice their opinions."
Peter Cokinos was also looking forward to the townhall format.
He felt the candidates might get more meaningful questions from everyday Americans.
While Cokinos was at the gym focused on his fitness his attention during the debate was directed at medicare.
"I have some doubts about Romney's medicare and I want to hear more of what he's got to say. I know what Obama's done and I've benefited from the ObamaCare proposals that became law this year."
About 60 million people were expected to watch tonight's debate.
The candidates will face off for the third and last time on Monday, October 22.
