HOUSTON – by KHOU and www.khou.com - An employee of a local car dealership accused of shooting his boss was angry about a meeting the two had the day before, according to court documents.
Keith Edward Grimmett, 49, was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly shooting 30-year-old Robert Kuentz. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Kuentz remained in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital at last check.
A witness who was in Kuentz's office when the shooting happened told detectives that Grimmett walked in and said he was angry about the way Kuentz had treated him at a meeting on Thursday.
The witness said Grimmett pulled out a gun and shot Kuentz once in the neck.
Kuentz is a manager at Mac Haik Chevrolet in the 11700 block of the Katy Freeway.
Other employees told investigators Kuentz and Grimmett had argued before.
Grimmett hadn’t worked at the dealership for very long. He worked at Allen Samuels Chevy before Mac Haik earlier this year. His bosses said he left on his own and was never a problem.
He fled after the shooting, but police said he called them Friday afternoon and agreed to surrender. Grimmett has no prior criminal record in Harris County.
Kuentz is married and has a small child. One employee described him as a “great guy.”
