UPDATE - A man police say is a registered sex offender who is accused of violating his parole for a 1983 sexual assault has been arrested.
Sergeant Rob Flores with the Beaumont Police Department says Lee Oliver Broussard, 54, was arrested after an anonymous tip led police to Live Oak St. and Grand Avenue around 5:30 Thursday evening.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says an arrest warrant was issued after Broussard stopped reporting to his parole officer in November.
A jury convicted Broussard of rape in 1983. A judge sentenced him to 45 years in a state penitentiary. He became eligible for parole in 1997, however it wasn't granted to him until 2011.
Broussard faces the Board of Pardons and Paroles. It will determine whether to send him back to prison without bond or continue parole with modified restrictions.
