BEAUMONT - From BPD - Early Thursday morning, January 17, 2013 at 2:40am, a Beaumont Patrol Officer patrolling the 2600 block of Hazel, noticed a suspicious man by a utility pole. The man saw the patrol officer and quickly got on a bicycle and rode down the street with two 5 gallon buckets on the handle bars. The officer stopped the man and saw the buckets were filled with copper wire. The man went from utility pole to utility pole cutting and taking the copper ground wire. The wire was the property of Entergy.
The man was identified as Tony Jackson, 48 year old Beaumont man. Jackson had a warrant for Theft out of Jefferson County.
Jackson was transported to Jefferson County Jail and booked in for Theft-State Jail Felony and the warrant.
