ALABAMA - The crippled Carnival Cruise ship isn't expected to reach the terminal in Mobile until some time between 8 and 11 p.m. Thursday.
Four tugs are now towing the vessel. A Coast Guard crew in a helicopter transported another generator to the ship to help provide more power.
A number of people from the Golden Triangle are on the ship. Stay with KFDM and kfdm.com for updates.
A fire in the engine room Sunday knocked out most power to the ship. It left Galveston last Thursday.
Carnival said hotel rooms, chartered flights, and bus transportation were waiting in Mobile to assist passengers.
"Carnival has reserved and arranged the following: approximately 100 motor coaches; more than 1,500 New Orleans hotel rooms; multiple charter flights from New Orleans to Houston on Friday; and transportation from Houston to the Port of Galveston so that guests may retrieve their cars if they drove to the port," said a statement from the company.
More than 3,100 vacationers have been stuck on the ship along with nearly 1,100 workers since an engine fire disabled it in the Gulf. Carnival said it will cover all travel related and incidental expenses.
Earlier Wednesday, Carnival announced the cancellation of Triumph cruises out of Galveston through mid-April. The company said full refunds would be issued to its customers along with a discount on a future cruise booking.
Carnival cruise ship not expected to reach Alabama dock until 8-11 p.m.Thursday
