SOUTHEAST TEXAS - The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers has authorized a company to conduct seismic testing of about 25,000 acres at Lake Sam Rayburn in Angelina and Nacogdoches counties.
Global Geophysical Services, Inc will conduct the Knob Creek 3D seismic survey beginning on or before March 8. The survey will depend on weather and site conditions and continue seven days a week until completed.
The seismic survey will take place on the upper portion of Lake Sam Rayburn in Angelina and Nacogdoches counties. Work will include the use of a specialized boat equipped with compressed air guns and lightweight mobile drilling platforms.
Visitors and boaters are asked to use caution while accessing Corps lands and water within the survey area.
Global Geophysical is conducting the survey on behalf of Goodrich Petroleum Corporation. The Corps of Engineers' acquisition of the land did not include mineral rights.
