Port Arthur Memorial football featured in short Nike film
Port Arthur Memorial's football team is featured in a 2-minute film released Thursday by Nike, highlighting the city's struggles with hurricane Harvey.
Survivors recount their experiences:
"Things got the worst when the water came up through the carpet."
"Next thing you know, the water just started bleeding through the walls."
"I'm standing in water up to my knees and I don't know how to get out of here."
"When I woke up, they had six helicopters just roaming around."
"You only could sit there and just let it happen. You can't just say, 'stop'."
Football was the only thing that felt regular, one player says in the video. "It felt normal."
Port Arthur is one of the Gulf Coast cities hit hardest by Harvey in late-August, when more than 40 inches of rain hit the area.
The town is still recovering. But the football team has largely been a success, with the only loss this season coming to rival Port Neches-Groves.
The Titans travel to Prairie View A&M Friday to face Temple in the Class 5A Division I regional semifinals at 7:30 p.m.
