Both sides of I-10 reopen by mid-morning following collision
(10:30 a.m. update) BEAUMONT - First responders tell KFDM News eastbound Interstate 10 near MLK reopened by about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and the westbound lanes reopened by about 10:30 following a collision involving a tractor trailer and a car that knocked down two utility poles.
No one was hurt.
Police shut down the freeway at about 5 a.m. Officers tell KFDM News the driver of a tractor trailer carrying Avon products was changing lanes and another driver was in his blind spot. He struck the car. The tractor trailer rode the guard rail and knocked down two light poles. One struck a car but no one was hurt. The truck's two saddle tanks carrying diesel fuel broke apart and the diesel spilled onto the east and westbound lanes.
The freeway reopened once the wreckage was cleared and the diesel was removed from the highway.
