Two dead following accident between Jasper and Kirbyville

The two victims of yesterday's crash in Jasper County are:

Wallace Paul Rogers Sr. of Hemphill and he was 57 years old and Ginger Norwood of Orange and she was 66 years old.

At approximately 4:53pm, The Texas Department of Public Safety received a call of a two vehicle crash on US 96 at County Road 498 just north of Kirbyville city limits.

According to Jasper County Troopers, a 2006 Dodge truck was traveling northbound on US 96. Due to heavy rain, the Dodge truck hydroplaned and spun into the southbound traffic lanes. The Dodge truck was then struck by a 2002 Kenworth truck tractor.

As a result of the crash, the driver and the passenger in the Dodge were killed.  The driver was from Hemphill and the passenger was from Orange; however, their identities will not be released until next of kin has been notified.  The driver of the truck tractor is from Indiana and did not receive any injuries.

Troopers are still in the preliminary stages of the crash investigation and further details will be released as the information becomes available.
